DuckDuckGo’s Privacy-Focused Web Browser Now Available for Windows Users

DuckDuckGo, the privacy-oriented substitute for Google, has been developing its own browser. After being introduced in open beta for Mac towards the end of last year, the DuckDuckGo browser is now being launched in beta for Windows from today. According to DuckDuckGo, this is the product that has been most requested for years.

Naturally, DuckDuckGo is the default search engine here. But the browser has some additional features like Duck Player that prevent YouTube from showing targeted ads and block recommendations that users follow. YouTube will still see this as a new view, but the browser will block any tracking or information that would affect your ad profile.

DuckDuckGo also claims an excellent ad blocking experience. It says that in addition to blocking ads and cookies, the browser also typically cleans up the remaining free space with traditional ad blockers. Users familiar with the Mac beta will be familiar with other features such as password management, automatic cookie pop-up handling, and email protection.

DuckDuckGo first previewed its desktop web browser in late 2021 and released its first Mac beta in late 2022. Windows is the latest platform to get the official app. But if you don’t use Mac or Windows, DuckDuckGo is available with search engine support in Google Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. It is also available as an app for iOS and Android.
